The Dallas Cowboys may have deployed some trickery that could have been saved for a more critical situation, but sometimes, it’s just about having fun and enjoying the moment.
In the middle of the second quarter, with a 16-3 lead following a defensive strip sack and a scoop-and-score, the Cowboys seized a golden opportunity for a trick play.
For reasons known best to them, possibly due to something they spotted in their film study, the New England Patriots sent a full-on blitz to block the extra point.
Oh my. The Cowboys just pulled off a fake extra point for a two-point conversion.

Against the coach who loves the finer points of special teams, the Cowboys just executed an incredible fake.
checking to a fake on an extra point is the funniest thing the cowboys have ever done https://t.co/zbEgNCT5Ii

That #Cowboys fake XP is brilliance. Used the #Patriots aggression against themselves.

However, Dallas’s holder, punter Bryan Anger, was prepared for it. Instead of placing the ball on the turf after the snap, Anger stood up and found defensive lineman Chauncey Golston wide open on his way to the end zone.
As expected, social media erupted with excitement over the play, especially considering it unfolded against a team coached by the legendary Bill Belichick.
