PFF Grades Jordan Love’s Week 9 Performance for the Packers

The 2023 season has been a rollercoaster for Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love, who’s in his first season as Aaron Rodgers’ successor. While he started the season on a high note with six touchdowns in the first two games, he struggled with only six touchdowns and eight interceptions in the following six games.

In the lead-up to Week 9, Love had thrown interceptions in five consecutive games. However, he managed to break that streak with a strong performance against the Los Angeles Rams, resulting in a convincing 20-3 victory.

Could Love’s performance against the Rams signal a turnaround for him? If so, the Packers could see significant improvement on the offensive side of the ball.

Jordan Love achieved a high-quality PFF (Pro Football Focus) grade of 83.2 in the game, making him the highest-graded player on the Packers’ offense in that matchup. This remarkable performance is a stark contrast to his previous performances this season, where he struggled to record an offensive grade above 68.1. His passing grade of 76.3 and running grade of 80.0 were also season-highs for the young quarterback from Utah State.

While Love’s production in the game may not have been spectacular, with 228 yards and one touchdown, he executed everything the Packers needed to secure the victory. Notably, his accuracy improved significantly as he completed a season-high 76.9 percent of his passes.

In Week 10, Love faces a tougher challenge as the Packers go on the road to play against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Following one of his better performances of the season in Week 9, a strong showing against the Steelers’ formidable defense could serve as a promising building block for Love’s development as a starting quarterback.
