Dak Prescott Leads the NFL in Passer Rating on Crucial Downs

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is showcasing his prowess in critical situations, leading all NFL quarterbacks in passer rating on third and fourth downs, according to Pro Football Focus.

Despite occasional criticism, Prescott’s performance, especially in high-pressure moments, dispels notions that he falters in crucial situations. In the recent game against the Philadelphia Eagles, Prescott delivered one of his standout performances of the season, completing 29 of 44 passes for 374 yards and three touchdowns.

For the entire season, Prescott has thrown for 2,011 yards, 13 touchdowns, and five interceptions, with a completion rate of 70.2% and an overall passer rating of 100.7.

Since joining the Cowboys as a fourth-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, Prescott quickly assumed the role of the starting quarterback due to an injury to Tony Romo. In his rookie season, he led the team to 13 wins and an NFC East division title, earning a Pro Bowl selection with impressive stats—3,667 yards, 22 touchdowns, and four interceptions.

Over the years, Prescott evolved from a perceived game manager into one of the league’s top quarterbacks. He achieved Pro Bowl selections in 2018 and 2019, throwing for nearly 5,000 yards and 30 touchdowns in the latter.

Despite a setback in 2020, where he led the league with 15 interceptions in 12 games, Prescott has rebounded in the 2023 season. With the Cowboys standing at 5-3, Prescott’s leadership in crucial downs remains a key asset as the team pursues success in the NFC East.
