Russell Brand’s scheduled live stand-up shows in the U.K. have been postponed in the wake of allegations of sexual assault.
The promoters of Brand’s “Bipolarisation” tour announced the postponement of the remaining addiction charity fundraiser shows in a statement, expressing their reluctance but hoping for understanding from fans.
This decision affects performances scheduled in U.K. cities like Wolverhampton and Plymouth, with the Theatre Royal Windsor, where Brand was due to perform on September 19, sharing the message.
The allegations against the comedian, actor, and TV host surfaced over the weekend through a joint investigation conducted by The Times, The Sunday Times, and Channel 4 Dispatches.
Four women accused Brand of rape, sexual assault, and emotional abuse between 2006 and 2013, allegations he vehemently denies.
Despite the allegations being made public just hours before, Brand performed at London’s Wembley venue in front of around 2,000 people on Saturday.
He reportedly received a standing ovation and briefly mentioned that there were “some things I cannot talk about” during the performance.
On Monday, Scotland Yard announced that it had received a report of sexual assault dating back to 2003 in connection with the accusations brought to light in the investigative report.
