Detroit Lions Reportedly Considering Massive $25 Million per Year Extension for Amon-Ra St. Brown

The Detroit Lions, on the cusp of Super Bowl contention in a surprising season, owe much of their success to the rapid turnaround under coach Dan Campbell’s leadership, igniting enthusiasm among fans. A significant contributor to their resurgence is wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, who amassed an impressive 1,515 receiving yards in the last campaign, despite being overlooked for the Pro Bowl.

According to Cam Marino, the Lions and St. Brown are engaged in discussions regarding a substantial contract extension, with talks centered around a three-year deal worth approximately $25 million annually.

Extending St. Brown’s contract emerges as a key priority for the Lions this offseason. Since entering the NFL, the former USC standout has consistently delivered stellar performances. In his rookie year, he tallied 90 receptions for 912 yards and five touchdowns, followed by 106 catches for 1,161 yards and six touchdowns the following season.

However, St. Brown’s latest season surpassed all expectations, with career-high statistics of 1,515 receiving yards on 119 receptions, accompanied by 10 touchdowns. Given his exceptional performance, it’s imperative for the Lions to secure St. Brown’s services, even if it entails a significant financial commitment of $25 million per year.

While the Lions confront various uncertainties entering the offseason, including scrutiny over Coach Campbell’s decisions in the NFC title game loss to the San Francisco 49ers, there remains optimism and anticipation in the Motor City for the team’s future.
